Get Involved in Getting the Gospel to Obscure Villages Around the World!

Here is an exciting new project our home is working on to reach unreached villages across this world. Read this post and pray about getting involved!

From AustinGardner.net:

Voice for the Villages is a current project that we are working together with our strategic partners, “partnering missionaries”, around the World providing material and training for pastors in villages and the least desirable areas.

Voice for the Villages is a ministry of Vision Baptist Church. Our goal is to reach into the villages of several different countries. We, with the help several strategic partners, are helping lead up the outreach in rural locations throughout the world. Places like the villages in communist China, the Mossi people of Burkina Faso, the Xhosa people in South Africa and small villages in Northern Africa where Islam has a strong hold.

What does this include?
Translation – Every month there is a PDF prepared with essential material to help these rural pastors. Currently there has been three full-time translators hired to translate these PDF’s into Chinese, Moore, Xhosa and Arabic.

Printing – Every month after these PDF’s are translated, they will be printed and put into a notebook.

Recording – If the need arises, that some of the rural pastors are illiterate, then the material will be read, recorded, and placed onto a MP3 player.

Training – After everything is prepared, the translated material will be delivered to the rural pastors and there will be a short training session with him.

What are the cost?
The preparation and reception of the PDFs are free of charge. But we have the cost of labour for our full-time translator, printing/notebook cost, and transportation cost driving out to the villages. Also, if we need to, we will hire someone to record the material in the native language, plus the cost to purchase the MP3 players.

Startup Cost: We have minimal startup cost, mainly consisting of a computer, quality printer and material to create the notebooks.

If you are interested in financially helping us in this ministry, you can send all monthly or one-time donations to:

Ordained to the Gospel Ministry

It was a great honor of mine to be ordained last night by my church and 15 other ordained ministers that sat on my ordination council.

I am very glad that the Lord has put me into the ministry, called me to preach, and directed us to Thailand and I count it a great privilege to have friends in the ministry that would demonstrate confidence in me by laying hands on me and commend me to the Lord.

Here is the blog post by my pastor.

Philip Bassham ordained to the Gospel Ministry

d

Last night Vision Baptist Church was honored to lay hands on Philip Bassham in recognition of the work of God in his life. 15 other men of God with literally several hundred years of ministry experience took 3 hours to spend with Philip challenging, encouraging, loving, and fellowshipping with Philip.

Then at 7 pm the church came together for a very beautiful service. It was a wonderful time.

We are very excited for Philip and Lori. We all look forward to what God will do with them on the mission field and where ever God may take them in ministry.

Philip has worked with me for over 6 years now. He was instrumental in every thing that happened in the formation of Vision since the planning stage began. We are honored to have yet another set aside for the gospel ministry that calls Vision their home!

Thailand’s Uncertain Future

Pastedgraphic-1

Historic days are approaching for Thailand. Parliament has been dissolved and elections have been slotted for early July.

Last year there were political protests that turned violent, and over 90 people lost their lives. These protestors from the rural parts of Thailand are known as the “red shirts.” Their opponents (the “yellow shirts”) shut down airport access during one of their protests and brought much damage to the nation’s economy.

The world will most probably hear about Thailand in the news again within the next few months. This upcoming election will be a tipping point for Thailand one way or another. In addition, Thai troops have been fighting Cambodian troops on the border over disputed territory, and Islamic violence continues to plague the south daily.

Please pray for Thailand and our people!

June Prayer Letter

Deputation Update
Just after 8 months of deputation, we are up to over 30,000 miles and have a third of our support raised!

This past month we have been in churches in GA, AR, MO, MS, TN, and SC, and many of them have taken us on for support.  We are excited that the Lord is raising our support.

Ordination
I will be getting ordained on June 23, 2011, just 2 weeks from writing this, and I would like to invite you, if you are able, to come for this special day of being ordained into the Gospel ministry of the Lord. I am excited about how the Lord has worked in my life bringing me to this point and could not be more excited about what the Lord has called us to do.

Announcing VisionTour Thailand 2012

Screen_shot_2011-06-08_at_12

Next year, when we head over to get final arrangements made for our permanent move to Thailand, we are planning on taking a group of people interested in Thailand with us to visit the field.

If you are interested in joining us you can get more information at http://projectthailand.net/trip where you can find the application, schedule, financial information, and other ways to help you be able to join us. Come with us!

Starting our Setup Fund

As we our support continues to come in, we look and plan more for that day when we will land in the country of Thailand to begin our work there. This will require much preparation and work to get set up in the country, so we are beginning to save now for that day.

If you would like to give specifically to this need, you may send it to Vision Baptist Missions and mark it “Setup Fund”. Thank you for praying about this and we look forward to that day!

Our Generation Leadership Camp Report

This past month we were a part of the OG Camp in Dayton, TN, and it was fantastic. We have been a part for the past 5 or 6 years, but I think this one was the best. Though it was a camp focused on missions, we had 5 or 6 saved and around 20 surrender for missions if that would be the Lord’s will for their lives.

Thank you for praying and supporting us. Pray that the Lord would use us as we travel and especially that he would raise up laborers for Thailand.

Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip and Lori Bassham
