September Prayer Letter

1 Year Deputation Update!
We have done more driving this month on deputation this past month than of all deputation so far. This past month we were in 17 states and drove over 6000 miles! It was a blast, but I don’t plan on driving to Montana again any time soon!

We have now been on deputation for 1 year and are at 51% of our support, but counting promised support we are closer to 65%, so we are looking forward to getting there soon and praying that the momentum of the past year’s work will allow us to finish very quickly!

Family – Our First Baby on the Way!!
We found out this month that we are expecting our first baby! I am excited about being a Father and looking forward to raising a child for the glory of God!

On August 29th, Lori and I also celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary, and a few days later, on the 6th, I turned 29. I am blown away how the Lord has blessed me and allows me to serve Him as a missionary and preacher with my incredible wife.

Thailand Update
This past month we have learned about opportunities to be able to preach the gospel even in public schools in Thailand. There are far more schools available than there are laborers right now to teach English and we are praying that more will be raised before the schools are filled with cults and other religions fill those places. Would you ask the Lord how you may be able to be used?! The job is far bigger than we can accomplish alone.

Relocation and Setup Fund
Now that we are on the second half of deputation, we will soon be in Thailand (!) and are trying to plan in advance for the costs of relocating there permanently. Tickets, shipping costs, and housing setup make this a big expense to plan for, but we are trusting the Lord to provide.

If you would like to give toward this need, you may send it to Vision Baptist Missions and memo “Setup Fund”. Thank you for praying about this and we look forward to that day!

We Are Having Our First Babe!!

I am not sure how to feel at the moment, but its pretty neat. We found out this morning that we are going to have a baby, I guess around June of next year!

I have loved it just being Lori and I. She’s awesome, and I think I am going to miss it just being us to be honest. But I assume that is just because we haven’t held our baby yet.

So, if you are wondering about the timing, this means we will be going to Thailand with a few-month-old! Should be pretty neat. Supposedly little babies are good for building churches:)

I guess this is what you get when you pray for more laborers to your country! He gives you one immediately on deputation that will learn the language perfectly:)

The Buddhist Confession

The most heartbreaking thing that I saw in February when we were in India and Thailand was going into the main temples and hearing the teacher give his hope to the people.

All followers were to wear a yellow robe, shave their heads, carry a begging bowl, take part in daily meditation, and subscribe to the Buddhist confession: “I take refuge in the Buddha; I take refuge in the Dharma (the Law); I take refuge in the Order.” Buddhists were also to obey the Ten Precepts: Refrain from destroying life, don’t take what is not given, be chaste, be honest, do not drink intoxicants, do not eat after noon, do not watch dancing or singing or drama, do not wear ornaments or scents or garlands, do not have a high or broad bed, and do not possess any silver or gold.
Anything that puts our hope in ourselves is really a hopeless religion. We can’t even keep the standards that we set for ourselves! We say that we want to lose weight and gain some more!

I am thankful that our hope is not in our efforts, but in our Savior’s.

That is good news, and He is worthy to be praised for winning the victory over sin, for us all, that we could not conquer.

14 States in 2 Weeks, and More to Come Tomorrow!

We made it home safely from Montana! We have been about 5000 miles and through 14 states in the last two weeks and are about to add a few more tomorrow, but are actually at home today!
For one day only.

We had some great meetings out west and a good time besides that. Met some wonderful people, had an anniversary, a birthday, and did a TON of driving.

Tomorrow we are heading out again to Louisiana for a missions conference Tuesday-Wednesday and then back to North Carolina for a conference Sunday – Wednesday.

Lots of traveling, but whatever it takes to get to Thailand.

Thank you for your prayers as we travel! The Lord has been very good to us, keeping us safe, adding new supporters, and progressing us toward the field!
