We have arrived in Thailand!!
After a very blessed time of deputation, we have finally moved to Thailand! All our bags made it with no problem and we are set up in our temporary place that we have for 1 month while we get a more permanent house set up.
As we arrived, we were welcomed by the Songkran celebration of the Thai New Year (it’s the year 2556 over here, but not that futuristic) where everyone travels home to see family, ask forgiveness from elders, and have a huge nationwide water fight. It really is crazy.
Setting up our house
Our first order of business now is finding a house and getting settled in. Pray that the Lord would direct us to the right place and we could get it set up so that we can begin language very quickly.
Leaving the USA
Leaving was definitely a strange feeling. We were blessed to have a good last few days in the states, but they were extremely busy!
Our church (Vision Baptist) had a send off service service for us that was very special to us, and then we went on a packing spree with some wonderful friends’ help. We couldn’t have done it without them!
Arriving in Thailand
Praise the Lord that everything make it safely to this side of the world and our flight went very well. We are still adjusting to the time and waking up at 3am every morning, but that is part of it.
This is our home now. We love it, are thrilled to be here, but are overwhelmed with the task before us. This is a nation with a totally different worldview and belief, but we are asking the Lord to show his mighty power through us, and use us for his glory.
Pray we will be a witness to all we come in contact with, a testimony of the truth, and sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip and Lori Bassham (and Claire)
