Language is still coming along well. We love our school and feel like we are making good progress. We have learned enough now to move past the survival phrases and begin to have actual conversations!
This is very exciting for us, but we still have a long ways to go. It is pretty easy to survive and get around, but to do the ministry it is necessary to master the language. Someone in business can get by with much less, but talking to people about their souls, teaching, training, and discipleship require the highest levels of language skill. Please continue to pray that our brains and tongues would continue to adapt!
Getting a Car
In a large city like Bangkok, a motorcycle definitely has some advantages when it comes to getting through traffic, but there are definite downsides.
After a few close calls out on the road, as well as the limitations of trying to transport a family, we have decided to get a car. Used car prices here are much higher, so it is definitely stretching our budget.
If you would like to help us with expenses toward a car, it would definitely be appreciated!
Missions Trip in 2014
Next year from June 16-25, 2014 we are scheduling to host a group coming over to visit and help us do some outreach as we lay the groundwork for our first church. We have a lot of other things planned to help you be able to see and experience the need here in Thailand.
If you would be interested in coming, you can get more information on our website at projectthailand.net/trip/.
Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip and Lori Bassham
