Stuff from our Week

June 2, 2014

  • Our Sunday School class is for new believers. Sometimes I feel like a new believer too trying to understand how things are communicated, and having to memorize all the verses over again.
  • I have been working on a language project for myself that is really helping me fix some of my most common grammar mistakes. Doesn’t sound too exciting though, probably. I am turning a grammar book into a spreadsheet so I can visualize it better.
  • Most of my language breakthroughs come in the form of a spreadsheet. Kind of funny, but it helps me lay it out so I can see it.
  • I think I could save a new Thai language student months of learning a few aspects of Thai now that I understand them better.
  • Strangely, reading English words in Thai characters is the hardest part of reading Thai. Like trying to recognize someone with a mask on.
  • Facebook was shut down by the government briefly today and journalists are being silenced. Freedom of speech is not a freedom everywhere.
  • Video: Are short-terms missions trips a good idea?
  • Great missions camp for teens and college students.
