Thailand Church Planting Fund Update
We praise the Lord for how He is providing for the needs of the church plant! I want to take this prayer letter and ask you to be praying with us for the remaining needs that we have as we get geared up to return to Thailand in January.
First of all, we want to praise the Lord and thank Him for what He has already done. Over $5k has been promised toward the $15k for startup costs!
Second, a bit of a disclaimer. $15k may seem like a lot, but we are planting in the heart of a city of 14 million people, and real estate, and most everything else, comes at a premium price. The place we are planting the church has 22k people per square km, so there are a lot of people to reach! We are shooting at the heart, wanting to take advantage of every opportunity we can find, and asking God to use us!
Here is a breakdown of some of what we are asking God to provide as we launch into this work:
- First 3 months rent (must be paid up front) – $3000
- A/C – $3000
- Church sign – $500
- 50 chairs – $1000
- Keyboard – $800-1000
- Pulpit – $100
- 10k flyers – $200
- Flyers mailed to 10k homes within 1km of church – $800/round (we hope to do 6 rounds of mailings)
- Sound System – $3000
- Misc. (Bibles, TV for screen, guitar, Utilities, building renovations, etc.) – $3000
Then in addition, we are also asking the Lord to provide for some longer term needs associated with the new church! For example:
- Additional $1500/mo. for rent and utilities
- Printing – tracts, advertising, websites, etc.
- Salaries, building maintenance, equipment.
After many budget adjustments, we are still needing to raise around $500/mo!
If you would like to help with these needs, any gift can be sent to Vision Baptist Missions at PO Box 442 Alpharetta, GA 30009 marked as ‘Thailand Church Planting Fund’ or online at visionmissions.com or projectthailand.net, and 100% of gifts are tax-deductible and will go toward church planting in Thailand!
This is a big prayer request, and I wish it wasn’t so much about money, but we would greatly appreciate your prayers for these needs and this exciting time of new ministry!
Furlough Update
We have had some great meetings as we have traveled, and now our time is almost at a close.
We are now in TX spending a couple of weeks with Lori’s family for Thanksgiving, then we will go to spend a couple of weeks with my family for Christmas, then over the new year break, we will be participating in the Our Generation Summit, then Jan 11 we get back on the plane for Thailand!
Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip and Lori Bassham
(and Claire, Grace and unnamed girl #3!)
