Stuff from Our Week

November 14, 2016

✪ Went to a funeral today and noticed the Donation Board at the temple. People purchasing merit and things for their next life. (Indulgence style.) Definitely buying some prestige for themselves by getting their name and donation amount inscribed on the entrance.

✪ If you ever wondered what a Buddhist funeral is like. Lots of chanting in another language. And a sermon about making merit.
His Outline:
1. Do good
2. Make merit
3. Give money

✪ There is a surprising amount of “missions work” going on in this world that is totally disconnected from the church and even teaching the Bible.

✪ The further you get from those basics, the further you get from actual Christian ministry, but modern missions goes to great lengths coming up with things other than that work.

✪ Sometimes I get a peak of new Christians in our church sharing their faith with their friends via Facebook and it brings me joy.

✪ Listening to Joey Kellett preaching his send-off service, praising the Lord, & looking forward to them arriving this week!
