Furlough (Thailand Side)
Praise the Lord for all the ones that have stepped up to take leadership in every area that needs to be covered. Whether that be preaching, handling the financial responsibilities, teaching classes, or discipleship, we praise the Lord that the church will be able to carry on with little interruption while we are away.
Unfortunately, the rent for the church building is going up. Our lease is up for renewal next month, and our landlord decided to raise our rent significantly ($300/mo!) If I was not going on furlough, I would likely move the church, but we are kind of stuck with me going back, so it looks like we will just be paying that this year until we can make some changes.
Handing Off Responsibilities
We have come up with a new class and teaching schedule so that many will be sharing the responsibilities while we are away instead of it all falling on one person.
That being said, we would ask for prayer for this important stage of ministry. The devil will certainly be working to disrupt a successful transition and there will be obstacles to overcome along the way. Pray that the church would stand strong in unity and grow through these challenges that lay ahead.
Furlough (USA Side)
Preparing for furlough is an international affair. While organizing the work in Thailand, there is also a lot to be done preparing for furlough. The big tasks are renting and setting up a house, which is similar to setup on the field all over again since now the States is our foreign field.
We still have a lot of scheduling to do for this year as we seek to raise new support. If you would like to have us come by and tell what the Lord is doing in Thailand, drop us a line and we would love to schedule a times.
Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip & Lori Bassham
(Claire, Grace, and Emma)
