The Ministry in Thailand Update
I am getting great reports for how the church is doing in our absence. Attendance is actually up, and just this week I heard of 2 professions of faith!
The first week a young man training for ministry preached, and others ran and taught the classes. I am very proud of everyone with how they have stepped up!
Pray for them. This is like a baby taking its first steps. There will be some mis-steps for sure, but pray that the Lord will use this time to strengthen and embolden them in the Gospel ministry.
There are also challenges. Just yesterday a close friend of several in the church committed suicide. He had been to the church several times, but I am not sure if he had believed yet. Pray for them as they deal with that and minister to the family.
Stateside Furlough Beginnings
We have made it home, and are very grateful to our home church for helping us find a house and get it set up for our first night back. This past month, there was still much to do getting furniture, doing paperwork, adjusting to the cold, finding a vehicle, visiting family, giving reports, scheduling meetings, making videos, and much more. It has been a whirlwind, but the Lord has blessed.
I was able to preach in our home church this past Sunday Morning, as well as be a part of our first missions conference since arriving back.
We are very thankful to Pinecrest Baptist for welcoming us, partnering with us, and making our first meeting so great for our girls, especially.
Pray for us as we get our schedule arranged for the rest of our furlough time, that we would be able to report back to supporters as well as raise the additional funds for the work in Thailand!
Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip & Lori Bassham
