August ‘19 Prayer Letter

August 19, 2019

Visa Hassle
This past month I had to make 2 trips back to Thailand to ensure that we were going to keep our visa, and thank the Lord, we are renewed for another year. Missionary visas are getting tougher to obtain, so we praise the Lord that it has worked out.

The Church in Bangkok is doing well
While in Thailand doing visa business, we were able to meet with the church leadership and encourage them in the work that they are doing. It is great to see how the Lord is using them to teach, preach, organize, and lead the church in our absence. Continue to pray for them that the church would continue to grow in strength and maturity.

While there I was able to talk to “A” about his sermon that he had preached the previous week, and to “Jack” about his sermon for the upcoming week. I praise the Lord for these guys that are taking such responsibly, doing well, and being faithful.

We witnessed others in the church leading Bible studies and discipleship times throughout the week, without our prompting and taking care of so many responsibilities. I praise the Lord for how he is using each one of them in the ministry.

Furlough
These last few months of furlough, we are really needing to raise additional funds for our return and next term in Thailand. The sudden death of Lori’s mother and 3 other members of her family definitely messed up our schedule, but we are back on track now and needing to make up for some lost time, so please pray with us about that.

We have travelled in TX, GA, Maryland, Virginia, and Thailand 2x since our last prayer letter, and have many more places to go before heading back!

Family
August 29th makes 10 years married, and I am looking forward to getting away with my bride for a few days alone! She has made the last ten years bliss, and I look forward to many many more together!

Lori also taught at a women’s conference this last month, encouraging other ladies in their ministries to keep on loving people through hurt and pain, and I hear it was wonderful.

We now have 2 kids in school. Claire is now in 2nd grade, and Grace has started K4.
Thank you for praying for us!

Yours for the Gospel in Thailand,
Philip & Lori Bassham
(Claire, Grace, and Emma)
